Windows 10: Unable to change timezone in Windows 11, need permission

    Unable to change timezone in Windows 11, need permission


    I have a new HP laptop that's a few months old now, running WIndows 11. Upon exploring I found the time zone is displayed incorrectly and I can't seem to change it. When I do try to actually click 'change time zone', I don't have permission despite being the admin. I can set the time manually for now, but it's just frustrating to not be able to do it properly. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

    Hi there,

    Taken me a year to fix this, but finally today I did it.

    Watch this video.



    Option 1 worked for my PC and option 2 worked for my Laptop.

    Laptop was windows 11.

    I had to enable Group Policy Editor using this websites information, it was easy, just follow the steps.

    Basically had to add "USERS" to the list of authorised groups who are allowed to change the times and timezones.

    Hi there,

    Taken me a year to fix this, but finally today I did it.

    Thought I would post this here incase others need the answer. It worked for me at least.

    Option 1 worked for my PC and option 2 worked for my Laptop.

    I had to enable Group Policy Editor, which is already in windows home, it just needs to be enabled. This website has all the information, it was easy, just follow the steps.

    done multiply resets, still good. time will tell if it holds firm.

    Unable to change timezone settings windows 11

    Open CMD and run the command tzutil /l and it will provide you with the list of timezones. Just type tzutil /s and then the time zone name like "Eastern Standard Time" and execute it. It will set that timezone.
    Done.
