Windows 10: Unable to clean WinSxS stuck ad 20% and no folder “cleanup windows update”

Hi, i'm on windowds 10 22H2with these commands via CMD in Administratorism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStoreThen ism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanupsame withISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBaseWhen I try to clean winsxs it suck at 20% then send a operation completed succesfully but it's not working and the componont store still at 7.95 GBWhy the Component Store Cleanup Recommendet is showing : No and not Yes ?Here is the resultAlso in cleanmgr there is no folder Windows update cleanupon't know why but before clear WinSxs was

Hi Chris,

Windows does a component store cleanup automatically 30 days after an update has been installed. However, you can also run the cleanup task/command on demand if required. For more information, see the following links.

Rigorous cleanup of WinSxS folder?!

For reasons beyond my (sane) comprehension, MS allows the C:\Windows\WinSxS folder to grown indefinitely (and only offers a rather deceptive, faux clean-up option, which only clears out like 29MB or so). Very annoying on a small SSD.

However, I heard you can use the following to do a more profound cleanup:

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase

You can't uninstall previous items any more this way (I don't care about, really). But is it safe to do so?!

First I thought about creating a Junction to WinSxS (to another drive), but, upon closer inspection, it would appear many hard links exist to the WinSxS folder, so that might not be a good idea.

WinSxS folder

It's not recommended to delete or modify files in this folder, as it can cause problems with your system stability and functionality.

But you can try: Disk Cleanup

To run Disk Cleanup, go to the Start menu and search for "Disk Cleanup". Once the tool opens, select the drive you want to clean up (usually the C drive), and click "OK". Disk Cleanup will scan your drive and show you a list of files you can safely delete, including temporary files and system files. Check the box next to "Windows Update Cleanup" and click "OK" to delete unnecessary files from the WinSxS folder.
