  1. Unable to COnnect to local NAS via WIndows 11

CommunityI have a 10 TB NAS that my wife and I back up our files. I recently purchased a second external drive as a second backup Backup of my Backup. I first went into my network setting and enables all file sharing access I then connected my Synology NAS via an RJ34 cable and booted everything up and my Lenovo T14 Gen 4 Windows 11 did recognize the NASYou can see the "SYNOLOGY_NAS." Now normally when clicking on the icon it usually requires an user id and password. But I get an errorI can't figure out why I can't access. So I'm starting with Microsoft assuming there is a setting I may

File Transfer Speed from Windows 11 to Synology NAS is VERY SLOW vs. Windows 10

I have a new Windows 11 PC and I'm noticing that the file sharing to my Synology NAS is very slow vs when I transferred files from my older Windows 10 PC.

    File Transfer Speeds:

    • Windows 11 to NAS (DS1520+) = 11.5 MB/s
    • Windows 11 to Windows 10 = 112 MB/s (much faster)
    • File size = 30GB

    Note:

    • Windows PCs and NAS are all Ethernet connected on 1GB home network.
    • Running: Windows 11 Pro 23H2
    • Running: DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 5

Any suggestions on how to speed this up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Windows 10 & NAS Box

    Hi Peter,

A few possible reasons can cause this issue. To help us identify the cause of this problem, we would like to know the following information:

    • How is your NAS box connected to your computer? (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or USB)
    • Are you using a program provided by the manufacturer of your NAS box to access it?
    • Do you receive any error messages when accessing your NAS box? If yes, what is the exact error message?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you perform the solution provided by omiklik (Most Helpful Reply)
in the following thread: Unable to see NAS drive on Network - Win 10 PC.

Keep us updated on the status of the issue, and we will be glad to assist you further.

Unable to COnnect to local NAS via WIndows 11

Connecting NAS - mapping of drives

Ok, If you want, we can do a step by step troubleshooting of your current situation: If you are able to ping your Machine and it responds. Code:
Try to view if your NAS appears on the Network List: Code:
If Your NAS appears on the list, try to view it: Code:
The available shares will be listed there. Then Try to List the content of one of the directories: Code:
This should list the content of the directory, If all this works Try to map a drive on one share: Code:
Pls reply with the "response" of the first "encounter" of a non positive output. This exercise should reveal if you have a Network or Protocol or Cipher or Authentication problem.
