Windows 10: "Unable to connect to world" windows 10 to switch

whenever I try to crossplay with my friends on switch I get the titular message. Ive been scouring the internet in the hopes of finding a fix but I cant. this is driving me up the wall.

Steam unable to connect in Windows 10

Just got the WIndows 10 upgrade and got all my drivers updated, etc. But now Steam won't start and fails at connecting. Anyone else have this issue?
