Windows 10: Unable to connect your Phone app with PC

Ive been trying to get the Your Phone app working since it was released but ive only managed to get it working maybe 3 or 4 times. Most of the time i cant get past the Check your Phone / PC part. What are the Network requirements for this app so i can make sure my Firewall isnt the issue?


Ive unlinked my PC and Phone and reset the apps multiple times as the troubleshooting says to do but it doent work still, surely it shouldnt be this difficult to get it to work?? ive used Airdroid for some time which does basically the same things but i really want to get the Windows app to work but i cant.


My PC is on wired Lan and my Android phone is on my Wifi but a different subnet, I have a firewall setup to allow all traffic between the 2 devices plus the usual outgoing traffic rules which work for everything else i use on my devices.


Is there anyone out there with some more suggestions other than whats on the troubleshooting pages?


Id be ever so grateful to anyone thats able to help me get this app to work.

Unable to connect phone with PC

To be able to assist you better, provide us a few more details on the below questions.

• What is the operating system installed in your phone? Also, what is the make and model of the phone you are using?
• What is the mode of connection(wired/wireless) you are trying to establish to connect your phone with the computer?
• Do you receive any notification/message when you try to connect the phone to your computer?

As an initial suggestion, make sure your phone has the most recent software updates (applicable for Windows phones).

• Swipe left to the App list.
• Tap Settings and then tap Phone update.
• Tap Check for updates.

Check if the native app in Windows works to detect the phone.

The Phone Companion app is built-in to Windows 10, and it will tell you how to automatically get the things you love from your PC to your phone or tablet.

Search for "Phone Companion" in the search box on your PC's taskbar to open it. However, if the Phone companion fails to detect the phone, reinstall the latest version of the app from the below link.

Unable to connect smart phone to PC.

The Samsung specific Diagnosis app is on your 'phone, not your PC.

If it doesn't appear in your app list, dial this number: ##634# which will open Diagnosis (it will also add it to your app list for another time).

But if you have never used Diagnosis it's pretty unlikely that the *#7284# setting will be wrong - it used to be the only way to get tethering on Samsung 'phones before we had Internet Sharing, but that trick is little used now (and I'd suspect it might
not work on the Focus Flash anyway).
