Windows 10: Unable to copy MS Word .docx file to remote computer

When I remote desktop RDP to my kids computer, I can copy .jpg and .zip files to his desktop. But I am unable to copy an MS Word file. I just here a "ding" and it does not copy. These are both Windows 11 PC's.Why can I copy some file types but not an MS Word file during this RDP session?

I have a lot of ms word files on my pc. But one of them showed me an error - Getting unknown error messages while opening (.doc) or (.docx) files. I don't know how to open my word file or repair microsoft word. Any suggestions, guys, please.

Windows Explorer will not open a Word file. When confronted with a .docx file, it will
invoke MS Word to open it. This suggests strongly that the problem lies with Thunderbird. It either fails to invoke Word or it invokes it with the wrong parameters. This is where you need to look when trying to solve your long-running problem.
I would do this to get closer to a solution:

• Send the file to a different machine and check if it will open under a different mail program, e.g. Outlook.
• Uninstall, then re-install Thunderbird, making sure it's the latest version. As you say, if it is a Thunderbird problem then the Mozilla people probably solved it a long time ago.

P.S. There is something strange going on with this thread. My contributions all of a sudden appear under the name "A. User", even though I am logged on under "". Flakey MS software?

P.P.S. (a few hours later): In the meantime Microsoft fixed the problem.

 

File extension *.docx

I already did all the steps you suggested but MS Office 2013 ignored my change and defaulted to *.docx. Is there some other solution?
