Windows 10: Unable to create Win11 VM with OS Image under 126GB

Hello,My goal is to create a Win11 image in Azure with a OS disk size of 80GB so it can be used as an image for AWS Workspace.I can see that the UI in Azure does not let me create a VM with a disk size of less than 126GB.I can also see that you cannot reduce the size of the OS disk once it's created.Since I cannot create it on the UI, I am trying to create it using PS but I am running into issues:Step 1: Create Disk with WIndows as OS and 80GB as disk size:$diskconfig = New-AzDiskConfig -Location $location -DiskSizeGB 80 -AccountType Standard_LRS -OsType Windows -CreateOption Empty$disk = Ne

Migrating On Prem VM to Azure

Hi Experts, We have a requirement of moving out VMs as is in Azure from Current On-Prem and the process we are following is

1. Create a RAW image from an on-prem VM.
   
2. Convert the RAW image to VHD.
   
3. Move the VHD file to Azure Storage.
   
4. Convert the Disks to managed disks.
   
5. Mount the OS disk to the C drive and other disks respectively.
   

Issue - Once we mount the OS disk we are not able to RDP to the machine we have followed the steps suggested in the below links and as usual there are millions of documents and none point in the right direction unfrotunately.

We have tried options

1. Created image from managed disk and tried to initiate the VM and got exception as below
   Provisioning failed.
   OS Provisioning for VM 'demo-1' did not finish in the allotted time. However, the VM guest agent was detected running. This suggests the guest OS has not been properly prepared to be used as a VM image (with CreateOption=FromImage). To resolve this issue, either use the VHD as is with CreateOption=Attach or prepare it properly for use as an image:

   and the suggested solution 1 to use CreateOption=Attach creates the VM but does not allow us to RDP to the machine so we are assuming it's not booting up. The other option suggested in the hyperlink is to create image using SysPrep which is not an option for us as we are performing a lift and shift.
   

I would like to get some guidance from experts on to the right process to follow.

It seems like some sort of an OS confusion has happened with your secondary WD Black and I'm sorry to hear about that. *Frown
Maybe re-formatting it would help indeed as the community already mentioned. I'd suggest to take a look at this step-by-step how to partition and format an HDD: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=PYCoid
Keep in mind that this will wipe clean the drive, so you should backup all important data from the drive somewhere else.
I noticed from the screenshots that your HDD appears as Disk 0, this means that it's plugged in the primary SATA port where the SSD (as an OS drive) should be. Actually it is possible that because of this Windows cannot create the image there. Swap the ports of the SSD and the HDD, this might help as well.

Unable to loginto Win11 Pro VM

Hello,

First here's my Win11 Pro version on my physical laptop:





I am NOT in an office environment. I am in a residential environment. I have a small network that consists of 2 laptops and 1 QNAP NAS Enclosure (Model: TS-932PX) but the virtual environment is running on my MSI Katana GF66 laptop running Win11 Pro (version above) and is NOT running on a server, I do NOT have a server I do NOT have Windows Server of any version; it is solely based on the capability of the laptop and my Win11 Pro.

That being said, here's my new problem. I finally got my sitaution with not being able to run/use the "enhanced connection" settings which turned out to be purely because I was trying to run the enhanced connection using Win11 Home and not Pro. Once I created a new Gen2 VM and installed Win11 Pro I was able to enable the enhanced connection option to share my audio & displays.

The problem I am now experiencing is that I cannot log into Win11 Pro on the VM with the enhanced option enabled. I get a screen with no functionality as in it has a background log in screen image/picture but zero functionality and not even the time on the screen. I cannot click on the screen and get the login screen to open; it is dead in the water/frozen. I am able to log in successfully but only when I turn off the enhanced feature. I therefore cannot test out if the enhanced feature is working to allow me to play sound on the VM.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
