Windows 10: Unable to cut and paste in one folder only.

    Unable to cut and paste in one folder only.


    Recently in my media folder "/I/Sort"I cannot move, copy or cut. It looks like I can cut but there is no paste option when I want to paste in another folder under /I/Sort. I can however Copy and then paste into "/I" but not /I/Sort/*". The permissions look identical on my Sort Folder as they do on any of the I drive folders that allow me to paste.

    What could cause this?

    windows 10 cut and paste photos from folders

    Hi,

    If you are referring to the option "cut and paste photos" in photo gallery.

    There is no option to cut and paste photos to folders using photo gallery or photo app.

    But you can right click on the photo, copy the photo and paste it on other folder. once you done, you can delete the photo from the photo gallery.

    If you want to cut and paste photos from one folder to another, follow the steps below.

    - Right click on the photo and select 'cut'.

    - Go to the location were you want to paste, right click and select paste.

    Cut and Paste procedure is NOT "cutting"

    Hi. I am engaged in a lengthy exercise to shift a heap of files from RAR-type folders to normal folders.

    I am cutting-and-pasting. However, Windows is NOT cutting, it is copying and pasting and I then have to go back to delete the file.

    Why O why O why will this. !%^$% system not do as it is told. Have we slowly morphed into an Apple lookalike where nerds "know" what is best for us?

    When I "cut", I want it cut!

    Anyone know why this is occurring?

    Suggestions appreciated.

    Moved a folder from another drive and rename and it still shows as the old folder name in certain places

    Hi Nick,

    I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check the behavior.

    • Create a new folder name it as 'My Videos'.
    • Now copy/cut and paste the contents which are in the folder "Videos", and delete the folder "Videos".
    • Now check the behavior.
    Please keep us updated with the status of the folder, to assist you further.
