Windows 10: Unable to delete folder in Explorer or Command Prompt in Windows 11

I have a folder that became orphaned. I can see it in Explorer and the command prompt but whenever I try to delete the folder it Windows 11 responds with "Could Not Find C:\Users\<username>\<foldername>". I've tried going into Admin mode on terminal and get the same response from command prompt.If a get a listing for the directory in Powershell the folder name is blank.I have no idea how but it got orphaned I think when I tried to move it. The contents were there and I was able to delete them without issue but the folder won't. I've tried creating a new folder with the same name

Windows 8 - delete windows folders in another drive

Just run "cleanmgr.exe" in the run command or in a command prompt and select the drive you want to clean......

 

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

 

Help!! Can not delete folder

Open command prompt as administrator and use the ICACLS command to give you access, then delete it from the same window.

Be careful with that command.
