  1. Unable to Delete Partitions on SSD and Reinstall Windows 11

Details:OS: Windows 11Processor: Intel i7-12700SSD: XPG S5 512 GBIssue Description:I was using my system to browse the internet when I suddenly encountered a blue screen error with the stop code "Registry Error." I attempted an automatic repair both with and without a bootable Windows 11 USB drive. I also tried restoring the system to a previous restore point but encountered errors with each attempt.Next, I tried to reinstall Windows. However, during the installation process, I was unable to delete any partitions on my drive, receiving the error message: "We couldn't create a new partition." I

  2. When I reset Windows 11 option remove everything and download Windows from the cloud, will it format the SSD?

    Hi Dave,

thank you. I followed the steps, and selected to Download from Cloud option. However for some reason it will say "unable to download" and "select local reinstall". This means the PC will use a local image stored in the SSD partition. If I do so, will it format the whole SSD (delete all partitions) and reinstall Windows 11?

    Thanks

  3. If anyone cannot view the windows partitions while reinstalling windows 10/11 on your laptop/desktop.

If anyone cannot view the windows partitions while reinstalling windows 10/11 on your laptop/desktop.

Note this applies to Dell systems mostly since they have advanced UEFI BIOS.

The next step as suggested by many is to load IRST drivers, which fixes the problem.

Yes it does, however there is a catch, it fixes only if the BIOS settings have Windows Boot Manager partition intact.

However, if WBM is deleted via diskpart commands, it will not fix this issue.

Solve: Enter BIOS, go to Storage> Change the operating mode of the internal storage controller.

    It should list.

    Disabled

    AHCI/NVMe

    RAID ON

By default, Raid is selected, change it to AHCI/NVMe, click on save changes at the bottom.

Reboot machine and try to reinstall OS and now it should list the partitions successfully.

  4. Unable to Delete Partitions on SSD and Reinstall Windows 11

    SSD cannot remove partitions

    Hello everybody.

So, I've got this SSD. It's a Samsung MZ-7TE2560 (OEM from a laptop). I had it in the laptop, had windows 10 running on it just fine for several months. One day it just won't boot up. It had the "BCD corrupted" windows boot error. So I reinstalled windows 10, no biggie. Went on about my life, this was about 2 months ago.

The other day, I get the same error again. I suspect that hibernation is somehow to blame, but that isn't the focus of this thread.

I couldn't reinstall windows, because I couldn't delete partitions on it, windows installer wouldn't let me. So I boot up windows rescue tools and attempt to use diskpart clean.

So now here's where it gets weird.

Diskpart does its thing, and I list part on the SSD, no partitions, we're golden, right? Wrong. I boot back into the windows installer, and as if by magic, the partitions are back....

I do it again. I do diskpart clean all. And again. And again. I make sure the drive isn't read only. I google my butt off. Nothing. I pull the drive out, plug it into a usb dock, and use diskpart clean all on my other computer. No dice. The partitions keep reappearing. I use datalifeguard diagnostics to rewrite the drive with zeroes. Nothing is seeming to work here.

How in the holy terror are these partitions still there? It tells me of course by now that they're corrupted and can't be formatted. The only info I can find on this subject is how to delete the partitions in the first place, no info on what happens if they DON'T go away.

Anybody have any experience with this?

    Thanks in advance.
