Windows 10: unable to detect earphone when plugged in windows 10

I am unable to hear/record from earphone/headphone.


I have up to date Realtek driver, but unable to bring up realtek HD audio manager.


I wanted to follow this suggestion:

Method 1: Enable jack detection.

1. 
   Open Realtek HD Audio Manager.
   
   
2. 
   Uncheck Disable front panel jack detection from the Connector Settings from the right pane.

Does windows 10 recognize when earphones are plugged in?

I would like to inform that Windows 10 does recognize and display a prompt when earphones are plugged in. I would like to ask if you are able to listen to sound from the earphone when plugged in.

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar and press Enter.
• Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.

Headphone jack not detecting earphones after plugged in

Realted audio

There was no problem till december, when i lastly plugged in my earphones. Yesterday, after plugged in, they were not detected by laptop and the song continued in speakers. I checked for drivers and even sound settings, but the only device showing is basic
speakers. Earphones, after plugged in, are not even showing any sign of even plugging. However, they are working fine in mobile.

Could be a 3-zone vs 4-zone thing as well, as phones utilize the additional zone for media controls, whereas the laptop may not...
