  1. Unable to disable w10 firewall on AD-joined computer

    Hello,

I want to turn off W10 firewall on an specific computer.

I've tried through a GPO but it did not work.

Locally, I've tried to manually disable it, however I can't do it on the domain profile as seems to be managed by the domain admin myself.

What I've tried so far without any success:

    - Disable service localy

    - Use netsh command to disable fw on domain profile

    - Modify registry to disable FW on domain profile

Attached some screenshots about the policy I've created.

    Many thanks!

    W10 Homegroup Configurations and joining

A user posted a question about being unable to join his own network which is my situation also. I have 3 W10 PC's on my home network. MS engineer "AM" posted this answer:

    Hello Darko,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I request you to follow the below steps:

    • Delete the file Windows/ServiceProfiles/LocalService/AppData/Roaming/PeerNetworking from all Homegroup computers.
    • Shutdown all the computers.
    • Reboot the main computer.
    • Now you will be able to start a new Homegroup.
    • When you turn on the other computers they will get invites from the main to join.
    • Enter new password.
I thought I would try this to reestablish my homegroup but the final item in that string of folders above (PeerNetworking) is not a file but a folder with many other subfolders in it. I was reluctant to delete all of those folders. Any help or clarification
    on this?

Image W10 workstations for Azure AD join?

    Hi All,

I want to image Windows 10; but more importantly I need to join Azure AD 'Out of the Box'!

I don't have a 'master' Azure AD account. I am not even sure that such a thing exits, e.g.: the Administrator account on a standard Active Directory Domain.

Where should I be looking for configuration, where it comes to Azure AD automatic joining?

My thoughts are PowerShell DST! But that is just a rumour.

    Any suggestions would be amazing.

    Regards,

    Davo

    Good Antivirus + Firewall

I would never put anything Norton on my computer.

Nod32 is arguably the best antivirus. AVG is likely not as good, but it's free and at least pretty good.

Firewalls, I'd put Comodo and whatever "Tiny Personal Firewall" is named nowadays on your short list. I think Kerio might have sold it now and it's named something else. Otherwise, just put Comodo on your short list. I think the current version's ease of use has taken a step backwards, seems a bit counter-intuitive when trying to do certain things with it, but overall it does a good job and the price is right.
