Windows 10: Unable to expand part of drive C at the expense of part D.

Hello, I have encountered the problem that when trying to expand parts of the main drive it does not work. Parts of the main disk, that is, C and D can themselves divide into parts, but at the same time join into one can not. Does not help neither as a disk management itself Windows, and third-party software. The main task to combine C and D in one drive or at least to give C more space.

I've never had any issues with Macrium Reflect Free rescue drive seeing my internal D: drive. I would suggest you try it again and look better for files on D: drive.

UPDATE: So I booted into a freshly created Macrium Reflect rescue USB flash drive. When I browsed for image files to restore from, my normal C: drive partition did not have a drive letter (although my second data SATA drive did get a drive letter). Now, I don't know if it was because I created the rescue drive from Macrium Reflect installed on C: drive or not. Anyway, the solution to the missing drive letter was to click on the icon for command prompt. Run diskpart. Then I selected the partition missing the drive letter and was able to assign a drive letter to it. In my case it was:

You can do this but it is a little trickier. Here is my advice:

• If I understand correctly, you have 2 partitions at this moment: a drive C were your current windows resides and a drive D, probably with your files (this is also my setup)
• The first step will be to create a partition for Windows 10 (cut part of drive D). You can do this in disk manager. If you don't know how, please ask and I will give you the details
• Create a system image of your current Windows
• Upgrade your current Windows to Windows 10 (you cannot skip this part if you want the free upgrade)
• Restore your previous Windows to it's current location (partition)
• Do a clean install of Windows 10 in the partition you reserved in step 2

Windows 10 will see that you have another windows installation and add it to the boot manager. At this point you will be able to boot both Windows versions
