    Unable to find USB Serial Port Ports COM & LPT in Device Manager Windows 11


    Hi all, I have a new laptop that has Windows 11. I can no longer get the serial port in Ports COM & LPT from the Device Manager. I need this to work so I can use Putty to console into a switch. When I select Device Manager nothing shows up, I cannot see Ports COM & LPT.These are the steps I have tried:IN DEVICE MANAGERView: Show hidden devices in Device Manager nothing happensScan for hardware changesAction: Add legacy hardware. Used both search recommended and add manually.When trying to add Communication Port: "Windows cannot determine the settings from this device". Does not work

    After updating to Windows 11 I can no longer get the serial port in Ports COM & LPT from the Device Manager.

    When I select Device Manager nothing shows up, I cannot see Ports COM & LPT.

    These are the steps I have tried:

    IN DEVICE MANAGER

    • View: Show hidden devices in Device Manager (nothing happens)
    • Scan for hardware changes
    • Action: Add legacy hardware. Used both search recommended and add manually.
    • When trying to add Communication Port: "Windows cannot determine the settings from this device". Does not work and have a yellow warning sign. When adding legacy hardware next time it is uninstalled since it says it does not work.
    • When trying to add Serial Port: "The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance".
    WINDOWS UPDATE

    Making sure all updates are done (both software and hardware)

    My system

    • Windows 11
    • HP Pavilion Laptop

    I am trying to connect a Jetson Nano through the serial port from a Micro USB cable to my laptop. This requires me to find the Ports COM & LPT, but they seem to have vanished.
