Windows 10: Unable to fix Windows 10 after KB5021233 update

Hi all, I am a victim of KB5021233 update. My laptop installed this update on 19th December 2022 and since then, Windows will not boot again. I get the 3 options on the recovery/error screen but none of these was beneficial.Press Enter to try again. Press F1 to enter Recovery Environment.Press F8 for start-up settings.I created installation media on USB and entered into the recovery environment through installation mode. Followed Microsoft advice to copy hidparse.sys file from \system32\drivers to \system32\ that did not work. Tried to repair the start-up and eventually succeeded on 3rd J

2022-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5021233) keeps failing repeatedly. Windows Update Troubleshooter tool shows no issues

The WMI repository seems to be corrupted, as the following line indicates:

Please backup the WMI repository by running the following command from Admin Command Prompt.

• winmgmt /backup c:\wmirepository.bak
  

And then run:

• winmgmt /salvagerepository
  

Then follow the instructions under the "How to rebuild WMI repository" section in this Acronis article. (Skip other parts of the article.)

Post back the errors, if any, when following the above steps.

Restart Windows.

Double-click the MSU file to install the update.

 

FIXED!! Windows 7 sp1 never ends searching for updates

Yeah, I've been noting it for months on the refusenik thread. They do NOT want anything older than 10 running.

I still have an HTPC on W7, and every other month I have to fix the update agent in order to get all updates. SMH....

You provided a good step by step fix. I've bookmarked it for future reference.

Try to install windows10.0-kb5021233-x64.msu manually.
