Windows 10: Unable to format disk from RAW to NTFS

HiI have encountered the following issue with one of my drives with the error "D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." In disk management, the file system is shown as RAWA google search prompted me to format my drive. However, I am unable to despite several different attempts.First, I tried to format by right-clicking on the disk and selecting format:I was hit with an error: Windows was unable to complete the format.Then I tried chkdsk d:/f, and I was hit with this error:C:\Windows\System32>chkdsk d:/f The type of the file system is NTFS. V

Can't format a RAW drive to NTFS

I recently received a new SSD and installed it into my system. I tried to format it into NTFS, which turned into the RAW format. When I try to reformat the drive in the Disk Management tool it says," The format did not complete successfully." I looked up some tutorials on this and it sent me to CMD. I ran as administrator and typed

Diskpart

list disk

select x disk

list volume

select x volume

format fs=ntfs

then it tells me "A Device Which Does Not Exist Was Specified"

I can't format the drive to NTFS I'm really confused, I have never had this happen before. any help would be appreciated

You may still give that a try. However, we can't guarantee that performing the suggested troubleshooting steps will resolve the RAW format issue.

Mirrored Drive gone from NTFS to RAW format

I have a separate Mirrored drive on my PC which is made up of two 4TB drives (Disk 2 and Disk 3). The Operating system is not on this drive, these are internal drives running off my motherboard.

Something has gone wrong and the drives now show up as RAW format.

Disk status is

Disk 2 - Errors

Disk 3 - Online

I ran some software to recover the files, however it indicates the file size to be pretty much the size of the disk. My plan is to:

1. break the mirrored volume

2. Format one of the drives to NTFS

3. Run the recovery software off the remaining RAW drive and put the recovered files on the newly formatted drive

4. Format the other drive to NTFS and then

5. Rebuild the mirror

Sounds simple enough, however, seeing as they are in RAW format, could I lose any data when I break the mirror?

Will my plan work basically? I need to tread carefully as I can't afford to lose data.
