Windows 10: Unable to host virtual network for internet sharing

I've been getting the following error:
"The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation"

Things I've already done trying to solve the problem(To save time from suggesting the same things) :

1) Clean install of Windows 10.

2) Made sure my WiFi network card doesn't go to Sleep, by disabling that option in the Power Management.





3) Have set hosted network mode to allow





4) Made sure that my network with internet access is set to sharing





I tried going through all the forums regarding this, but none of them are solving my problem









Additional info :

It was working fine untill some random windows update, after which the PC started getting BSOD when trying to host a network. Reinstalling drivers started giving me this error instead of BSOD.

Then I rolled back to windows 8.1 and checked again. It was working flawlessly. I assumed it to be a driver problem, so I upgraded to Windows 10 again and this error is back.


Is my only solution is to chuck Windows 10 and run 8.1?

Unable to create a hosted network on my Windows 10 computer.

Original title: Error virtual router

I make my PC as wifi hotspot.

For this I had followed the instruction with command prompt and it gives message as HOSTED NETWORK STARTED.

When I try to make network sharing I select Change Adapter Setting option.

But It doesn't show that created hosted network name So I am unable to make the network to share.

No I am not using any domian network..

actually i am sharing my internet connection with my phone and other devices using Microsoft hosted network virtual adapter which i have created using cmd prompt.

and in LAN network and sharing section.. created virtual wifi network is not available for sharing

In Device Manager under the old Control Panel, right click on the WiFi network adapter, and (I think) under properties, then advanced, look for a property that says something about ad-hoc mode. Make sure that is set to enabled.

Have you tried looking for a different driver (even Windows 7 or 8 driver) from the manufacturer of the computer or WiFi network adapter? If you can manually install those drivers, that may solve your problem as well. My Wake on Lan would not work until I manually installed the drivers from the manufacturer for Windows 7. I'll bet the Windows 10 update is overwriting the previous drivers that worked.

My understanding is the you have an internet connection via an Ethernet LAN and you are trying to establish a WiFi hotspot for it? I believe that requires ad-hoc mode to be available from the WiFi controller.

 

Yes, I've been trying to create a hotspot for an ethernet connection. I'll try installing older drivers and check if it solves my problem :S

 

Just curious - is there some reason you can't use a router for that? If you are looking for something portable:

I used one of these on a family vacation and it worked fantastic. In the car I connected an external hard drive to it and the passengers could watch movies on their laptops/tablets. In the hotel I used it as a wireless repeater - so we could use the hotel wifi in addition to having our shared hard drive for movies. In one location we stayed in a cabin and were told WiFi would only work in the main lodge. I could see the main lodge WiFi SSID but we could not connect to it. I left our little HooToo router plugged in, again just for movie sharing, and it pinged the main lodge WiFi while we swimming and finally connected and held onto it and we had internet in our cabin when we came back .

 

I've been experiencing the exact same problem. I've tried all the techniques tried by lunaticfiend, except rolling back to my previous version of WIndows. If someone has a fix to this, please help!!

 

The commands you entered should be sufficient on their own, but you have Virtual Router installed?
