    Hi, I just bought a Lenovo Y540 and am trying to install Microsoft's DirectX 9. But no matter what I try I keep getting an `Internal System Error`. After digging a little deeper I found out that the error was the `0x80070005` error that a lot of Win10 users were facing. Here are my DXError logs. I have tried using both the web installer AND the end-user distribution. I have also disabled all firewalls and uninstalled all anti-virus software. Beyond that I have tried everything in these links:

    DirectX 9 doesn't install on laptop

    I tried to installed Roxio VCR to DVD software on my laptop. My laptop has Windows 10.

    The error message says I need to install DirectX 9, but that did not install.

    I saw another message and it says to use DirectX11, but that did not install onto my laptop.

    Any suggestions?

    Follow the steps to check which version of directX is installed in your computer.

    a) Press Windows + R.

    b) Type dxdiag and click ok.

    Requires DirectX 9 when i have DirectX12

    please, use you words.

    So you tried to install them ...

    ... ? and got a message saying they needed directx 9 even though you already had directX 12 installed?

    Apparently there are significant differences between DirectX 9 and 12 that 12 does NOT provide "backward compatibility" for. This youtube suggests enabling support for the "missing" older versions of DirectX



    This video suggest downloading and installing DirectX, even though Win10 says it has it already ... :
