Windows 10: Unable to install Epic Online Services - EOS-ERR-1603

I'm not able to install the Epic Games Online Services using any methods EOS-ERR-1603. Here are some of the things I tried:1. Restarting2. Installing it via the launcher3. Installing it using EpicOnlineServices.exe4. Granting all possible rights to myself to these files using "Properties"5. Creating an "Epic Online Services" folder6. Reinstalling the Epic Games Launcher7. Cleaning every trace of Epic Games on my computer using Everything8. Reinstalling .NET Framework 3.59. Downloading the C and C# SDKs from the official website and pasting them in the root folder10. Redownloading the install

EOS-ERR-1603 Epic Online Services install issue

I wanted to share a fix to the EOS-ERR-1603 error that some experience with the Epic Games Launcher and Online Services Install that I haven't seen elsewhere and I hope might be useful.

Various forums suggested the issue may be due to installing the launcher on a different drive, but mine is in the default location on C:\ so no joy with that either.

However I noticed in the registry there were entries pointing to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Epic Online Services" but the deepest folder didn't exist in my installation, so I created the folder "Epic Online Services" under the "Epic Games" folder:





I then re-ran the installer as described in step 6 on the Epic page linked to above, which in my case is C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Extras\EOS\EpicOnlineServices.msi and the installer ran successfully fixing the issue.

Can’t Install Epic Online Services (EOS-ERR-1603)

Disclaimer: Temporarily turn off antivirus protection. However, keep in mind that if you do so, your device may be vulnerable to threats. So please turn it on immediately once issue fixed.

3. Clean Installation: After uninstalling, make sure to delete any remaining folders related to Epic Games (such as C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\) to ensure a clean slate for reinstalling.

4. Run as Administrator: When reinstalling, right-click on the installer and choose "Run as administrator" to ensure proper permissions for installation.

5. Contact Epic Games Support: If the issue persists after trying these steps, it may be beneficial to reach out to Epic Games support. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps or insights into known issues with the installer.

6. Regarding Control Panel Uninstall Issue:

EOS-ERR-1602 when installing Epic Online Services component to Epic Games Launcher in Windows 11

I have been troubleshooting with Epic Games and none of the solutions they came up with worked for me, so the agent suggested I ask Microsoft for guidance since EOS-ERR codes are related to the MSI installer.

This is what I have tried:

Reinstalling the Epic Games Launcher

Updating Windows 11 and restarting the computer

Running Epic Games Launcher as administrator

Granting Read and Write permissions to Epic Games Launcher

Shutting down Windows Installer Service and then attempting the install

Running the Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter from Microsoft

Relocating Epic Launcher to my main drive

Even after all these actions I still get a prompt to install Epic Online Services from the Epic Games Launcher, and when I tried to install it I get the EOS-ERR-1602 error code when it fails to install.

Anyone know any next steps?
