  1. Unable to Install .msix or .msixbundle Files in Windows 11

Hello allI am using Windows 11 and everything is up to Date.I am unable to Install any .msix or .msixbundle Files, I just get a White Window for a Second which then Closes and I get an Error Box stating that the App could not Start.I managed to Install the App using the Command Line which worked fine, however, this is far from convenient and it also further causes Issues as the App is not able to Update as it uses .mix Files which results in the same Issue as described above.I have Run sfc /scannow and no Issues were found.I have also tried to Download the App Installer again, from the Microso

  2. MSIX is not working on a number of company computers.

    Hi Tress,

Please try PowerShell (admin) to install the .msix or .msixbundle file.

    Example:

    • Add-AppxPackage -Path "C:\Apps\MyApp.msixbundle"

  3. i can't install msixbundle file

    Hi huy,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

The error code 0x80070005 typically indicates a permissions issue or lack of administrative privileges when trying to install an MSIX bundle or application package. To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Run as Administrator:

Make sure you are logged in with an account that has administrative privileges on your computer. Right-click on the MSIX bundle file and select "Run as administrator." This should give the installation process the necessary permissions to access and modify system files.

    2. Disable Antivirus or Security Software:

Sometimes, security software can interfere with the installation process. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus or security software and then attempt to install the MSIX bundle again. Remember to re-enable the security software after installation.

Disclaimer: Temporarily turn off antivirus protection. However, keep in mind that if you do so, your device may be vulnerable to threats. So please turn it on immediately once issue fixed.

    3. User Account Control (UAC):

Adjust the User Account Control settings in Windows:

    - Search for "User Account Control" in the Windows search bar.

    - Move the slider to a lower setting (not recommended for general use) and try the installation again.

    - After installation, you may want to reset the UAC setting to its original level for security reasons.

    4. Verify the MSIX Bundle:

Ensure that the MSIX bundle file is not corrupt or incomplete. Try downloading it again or from a different source.

    5. Check for App-Specific Solutions:

If the issue persists, check if there are specific instructions or solutions provided by the application's developer or on their support website. They may have additional troubleshooting steps or patches to address installation issues.

I hope this helps. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely

  4. Unable to Install .msix or .msixbundle Files in Windows 11

MSIX is not working on a number of company computers.

We have a number of computers with versions of Windows all the way up to 22H2 that seem to be missing the file type for MSIX completely. I have spent hours looking at this issue. I can see on a working computer an app is installed called Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller_1.22.11261.0_x64 and shows up as "app installer" in programs and features. Our company blocks the Microsoft Store. So that easy solution is not going to work. Is there any other way to get the feature pack or files to install this important part of Windows without the store?

I tried using Winget on a computer that does have the MSIX and Winget features to download the file from the store using PowerShell. The command seemed to work but after two acknowledgement questions, it still gets blocked by the policy that blocks the store. I used PowerShell to download Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller_8wekyb3d8bbwe from GitHub. This is an MSIXBUNDLE file that also will not open on the computers that don't have MSIX.

If you go to default apps and show all file types, there is no MSIX file type. I see a lot of forums about problems with the Microsoft Store and I think a lot of them probably come back to a similar issue.

I need an EXE or MSI file that can install this "app installer" and/or MSIX and Winget capability without linking to the Microsoft Store.

    Thanks
