Windows 10: unable to install programs

For some reason with the new windows 10 update,
I cannot install programs anymore, that is making use of the Windows Restore option.
I have System restore disabled through this: How to Enable System Restore in Windows 10

Since I need that for Rollback.

But now that policy doesn't seem to work anymore.
I cannot install any program anymore that uses that "Set restore point" option.

Does anyone know a work around for that.

You should have mentioned about Missing Sync in the first place. We could have avoided the hard reset. When you installed Missing Sync on your PC, did it setup a "client" version on your device? I'm asking because I don't use Missing Sync and Apple products.
Your answer might help others. Thanks.

The hard reset worked. I'm now able to use my device fully, installing any and all programs for a smartphone. Thank you immensely for your assistance, Linley.

Now let's discuss what might have been the cause of this problem...

Being that I'm a computer/network engineer, these kinds of things are a HUGE challenge to me, and I wasn't ABOUT to give up until I figured out how to get this device to run properly again.



So I believe this problem started when I sync'd my device with a Mac using
Missing Sync for Windows Mobile after regularly using
Active Sync 4.5 on my Windows XP office computer. It's rather unfortunate that Windows and Apple still can't get their OS's to work properly together.

Hopefully this article will assist others in the future.

The normal way to turn system restore on is like this:



(mine's already on on C, D as I've turned it on again after the anniversary upgrade).

If that doesn't work -as I presume from your link it doesn't - or the option is greyed out, see

Note the registry entry added in that instance.

Somehow System restore for that drive was turned on again..
Turned it off and everything works great now
