Windows 10: unable to key in "<" and ">" at login screen

I have found this issue when I switched my keyboard for "English (United States)" at language bar.

When I switch to "US English Table for IBM Arabic 238_L" I am unable to type "<" and ">" characters. This is an issue because I need these 2 keys for my password at login screen.


The default keyboard (United States International) was giving me issues with typing quotation marks which is why I switched, now I face a more serious issue.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to select the appropriate language in login screen at the bottom right corner and check if it helps.

Steps 2: Use On-screen keyboard in the login screen to login and check if it helps.

Ok, let the powershell command run overnight
If the command didn't solve the problem, the try these steps in order:

1. Disable superfetch service
   • Empty the following folder c:\Windows\Prefetch\
   • Restart the computer
   • Si ça ne marche pas, passer à l'étape 2;
2. Disable the AppXSvc from the registry: change the "Start" key value from 3 to 4 (see the screenshot)

• Which screen are you referring to?
• Are you able to login to Desktop?
• Are you able to see the login screen?

The power icon referred in the steps is present at the login screen. If you are able to see the login screen where you enter the password to go to Desktop, then you need to follow those steps. These steps to be followed if you are able to reach to
login screen but unable to go to Desktop.
