Windows 10: Unable to log in to laptop because connected to old Microsoft account that I do not have...

When I bought my Windows 10 laptop, I signed in using the account that had been provided to me via my college. I graduated two years ago and no longer have access to my college Microsoft/Windows account. However, my computer is still linked to it. I have added my new Microsoft account and my laptop is linked as a device. However, my college account is the sole administrator. I am now having issues logging into my computer and I cannot find any way to fix it without logging into my college account which I cannot do. I've tried to recover that account but do not recall enough information to do

We understand how difficult it could be and we appreciate the time and effort that you have taken to work this issue. However, in order to get clarity, we would need some more information regarding the issue.

1. Were you using the “Old email (account) address” regardless of not using laptop?
   
2. Are both the email addresses linked?
   
3. Could you please let us know, where exactly you get prompt for the password for the “Old email address” in the desktop?
   
4. What is the exact error message you get when you try to log in to laptop?
   
5. Does your desktop has two user profiles?
   

In the meantime, we would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check.



You would need to have internet connection in laptop, so that the password change could get updated and it seems that the laptop is not connected to the internet, we would suggest you to connect Ethernet cable to laptop and then
try logging in to the laptop with the new password for the old email address.

Unable to remove my microsoft account from a linked pc

To help you with your concern in deleting your Microsoft account from a device, we'd like to ask a few questions:

• Have you tried deleting your Microsoft account directly from the old laptop?
• How did you go about removing the account from the old laptop?
