Windows 10: Unable to log on to my Windows 10 laptop

HELP!!! I have read some old articles and it appears I am not the first to have this problem.


I think there has been a system upgrade. Anyway, tried to log on to my HP laptop today and initially got errors. 1 said Stop code 0xc000021a


Somehow I managed to get the sign on screen. Before this happened I used to use a 4 digit code to log on - this has now disappeared.


When I use a password it comes up saying


That password is incorrect. Make sure you are using the password for your Microsoft account. If you can't remember your password, you can reset it from the lock screen or at account.live.com/password/reset.


Firstly it will not reset from the lock screen - it just comes back to the log in screen

Secondly I have successfully changed the password by going to the account.live website on my IPhone.


I STILL CANNOT SIGN IN


Cannot get hold of a person at Microsoft to help and I'm so sick of this now. I'm not a computer geek so need help

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

• Launch the Store from your Start menu.
• Click the user icon next to the search box.
• Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
• Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
• When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Unable to log in to W10 laptop

Hi Ray,

I suggest you to press the tab key in the keyboard and then to the Ease of access and then select the on screen keyboard. After selecting the on screen keyboard I suggest you to type the password and then boot to the desktop. I would then suggest you to
check the mouse in different USB slots and then follow the below steps.

Un-installing and Installing Driver.

• • Type“Device Manager” on the search bar and then Enter.
  • Open Device Manager, expand “Human Interface Devices”.
  • Find and double-click the driver from the left panel to uninstall.
  • Right-click the device, and click Uninstall.
  • Windows will prompt you to confirm the device’s removal. Click OK to remove the driver.
  • After you have successfully uninstalled the driver, please go to the computer manufacturer’s website, download the Windows 10 driver for your computer and check.

Repeat the same steps from above but in 2nd step select the Mice and other pointing devices to reinstall the mouse drivers.
