Windows 10: Unable to Log Out of Kids' Profile and Into Admin. Profile

I have somehow managed to conflate two profiles and am unable to log in to the administrator profile on my Yoga laptop. I've been using this profile for years, but now that I'm trying to set up Microsoft Family Safety, I NEED to log into this profile, and I can't. Every time I go to log into this other account which is set up as the admin for my laptop, it automatically logs me into the other account which is NOT the admin. I have selected "forgot my password" on the admin. profile twice now, and each time, it just changes the password for the other profile and continues to automatically log m

I don't get any error messages just either welcome or logging off. I went through the process above but unfortunately it hasn't helped. I have also tried deleting the account then setting it up again, I got a bit further, this time I got to the user profiles
home page but after about 30 sec logged me off and back to profile list. Any other suggestions?
