Windows 10: Unable to login to admin account

Hi Experts,


I am not able to login to my admin account. I was trying some thing with net user command and accidently might have reseted the password. Now I am not able to login back.

I have a guest account on the laptop with which I can log in, it has minimum privileges. But all my data is stored in the admin account. Please let me know how can I log back to my admin account.


I tried running cmd with admin but it is ask admin password.

I tried starting in cmd safe mode but it again ask for admin password.


I can log into my Microsoft online account where I can see the device on which I have installed this and my admin account is linked to Microsoft account. Resetting of Microsoft account did not help.

I am unable to login into admin account using the current credentials, but i am able to login into the server using user credentials that i created. Can any on help me in debugging the issue.

1. Are you using a Microsoft account or a local account?
   
2. Which version of Windows 10 you are using currently?
   
3. Is the other user account an admin account?
   

I suggest you to try using the on screen keyboard at the login page and check if you are able to login to the PC.

1. At the login screen click on the
   ease of access icon at the bottom right hand corner.
   
2. Click on the on screen keyboard to open it.
   
3. Type the password and try to login.
   

If you are using a Microsoft account, I suggest you to refer the article on

how to reset your Microsoft account password.



However, if you are using a local account, then I suggest you to refer the article on

reset your Windows 10 local account password.



Note: While performing these steps, there might be a risk of data loss. You may take a backup of the data before performing the steps.

When you first loaded Windows, you were prompted for an account name & password. This account was automatically created with admin privileges. Did you demote it? When?
