Windows 10: Unable to map Network Drives nor access them at all on my desktop with windows 11 pro.

Hi.I am unable to connect to any of my network drives on my desktop windows 11 pro. I have reinstalled. I have tried so many things and am still stuck.I once installed windows 11 home and it seemed to connect but as everything I have in on a windows 11 pro install I don't want to have to reinstall everything onto windows 11 pro because there is no reason I can find that my desktop won't allow me to connect to my NAS's.I can see it and try to log in but every time I'm given a message of incorrect password or username WHICH IS CORRECT or my PC doesn't have permission or there was an error wh

Unable to map Network Shares Windows 10


Hi,
I've got 2 Western Digital Network drives hard wired on my network, a My Book World and an EX2.


Since upgrading to Windows 10 I've had intermittent problems viewing and setting network drives. I've read a lot of other posts and tried a number of things suggested without success. WD Support have run out of ideas.

The WD Discovery tool finds the Network drives, but the box to map network drive is greyed out. I can access the desktop control panel from my browser. If I try to add a network location the drives are not listed. If I try to add the drive letter L: \\WDMYCLOUDEX2\Public the network path is not found?

I have another Windows 10 computer on the network which can access the drives without issue - so it must be a setting on my PC. Tried disabling my Kaspersky security - still not being seen?


I suspect that this has been as a result of a windows upgrade?

Anybody had similar issues?

 

Network Drive Issue - Read only via mapped drive, yet Read/Write if access same shared folder on network.

To elaborate on the above question.

• Two windows 11 pro machines (PC 1 & PC 2) connected to router
  
• Initially, the two computers could not access each other on the network, something to do with setting up accounts with pins, and this was covered, and resolved here:- Redirecting in my case it was Rob Ainscough suggestion, near the end of the discussion, that worked.
  
• Once I entered the PC's name in PC 2's Windows Explorer, I was able to map network drives.
  
• Folders / Files in Public Folder on PC 1.
  
• PC 2 Mapped Network Drives to folders in PC 1 Public Folder.
  

I use PC 1 and another person uses PC 2. The issue is that although the user of PC 2 can access the Public Folders on PC 1 via mapped network drives, they are unable to create / edit folders i.e. read only; the share permissions seem fine on PC 1, so I do not think this the issue. However, I discovered that if I re-enter PC 1’s computer name in PC 2’s Windows Explorer, as with Rob Ainscough’s fix, PC 2 can locate PC 1’s Public Folder over the network, and, by right clicking on the folders within the Public Folder and selecting Pin to Quick Access, these folders can be subsequently accessed via Quick Access with Read / Write permissions.

To recap, PC 2 accessing Public Folder on PC 1:-

via Mapped Network Drive PC 2 only has Read access.

via Quick Access on Windows Explorer left pane PC 2 has full access.

Any suggestions why the difference and how can I get the mapped network drives to have full access.
