Windows 10: Unable to open ANY .exe files anymore.

Hello everyone,

I wanna get straight to the point, I absolutely messed up. Sooo... It all started when I couldn't open Identity V anymore, that seems to be a really common problem amongst players and the developers have not fixed this issue yet. For the next few days I kept on trying to find solutions, opening it again, de- and reinstalling, ect. Nothing worked sadly. I was looking up videos on how to potentially fix this, and since I'm really not a person who knows stuff about computers and electronic stuff, I first found out about Registry Editor and messed around- worst mistake I've done so far. I re-named the default .exe file and closed Registry Editor again but turns out, of course, I can't open anything anymore. This is absolutely stupid and I might deserve it, but if somebody knows a solution, please let me know.

I've tried factory resetting my PC, since I don't really have anything I can't get back within 30 minutes on it, but even that doesn't work. When I click "Get started" something pops up for half a split second, but nothing opens. The Settings tab closes too.

I'm seriously in such a misery and it'll take me still a couple of months to get enough money for a new PC, so please someone help me out of this! Or guide me on how to factory reset my PC!!

Unable to open .exe files anymore.

I recently installed Kaspersky Internet Security and have since not been aboe to open any executable file (.exe files) anymore. Any ideas why this is happening now?

 

Exe file slow to open

A SFX archive isn't going to open right away. The files have to be extracted first. When you are opening it in WinRar, it's not extracting the file, it's just reading it which is why it opens right away.

 

I changes .exe (Default) files data value, and now I can't open .exe files. Can anyone tell me the normal data value for .exe?
