Windows 10: Unable to open image files due to Windows Photos uninstalling itself

Hi,Odd one here. Every week or so, Windows Photos seems to almost uninstall itself. Suddenly I am unable to open image files. I got to Windows settings to see the photos app has no data associated with it.I am able to uninstall the app completely and reinstall it from the Microsoft Store. Ideally I do not want to be doing this every week.Any ideas what may be causing this?Thanks

which application are you using to open an image file?

I would suggest you to follow the below methods:

Method 1

If you are unable to open the photos, please try the steps below and check if it resolves the issue.

1. Right click
on a picture and then click on
properties.

2. On the General
tab, click on Change
and select Windows Photo Viewer.

3. Press apply
and check if you are able to open the photos.

Hello,

There are several ways to open an image file in Windows 10. If a photo cannot be viewed using the
Photo App, we suggest opening it using a different app. The steps below will help you
set Photo Viewer as your default image viewer:

• Press Windows Key + S and enter default programs. Select
  Default Programs from the list.
• Select Set your default programs.
• Select Windows Photo Viewer and click the Set this program as default.
• Click OK to save changes.

After setting Photo Viewer as your default image viewer, open those
.JPG files and see if the issue still occurs.

Photos and images not opening on windows 11

This one works for me but I added this steps:

On Search Bar type %temp% (it will open temporary files) just hit ctrl +A and then delete all

because after following the steps above still didn't work so I did this additional steps and it work!
