Windows 10: Unable to open JPEG files on windows 10 OS system

I am unable to Open JPEG/JPG Image files on my system which has Windows 10 OS.

I have tried all the various options mentioned in various forums to resolve similar issue, but without any success.

When ever I try to open JPEG files from my system, I get a Message saying " we do not support this file format".

Note : after trying all the possible solutions listed in various forums and being unsuccessful, I found that the only
way I am able to open the JPEG FILES on my windoes 10 system is to FIRST crop the images with ", SNIPPING TOOL" and then saving them as "JPG" files on my system. This way I was able to open these image files.


Can any one provide a solution to this issue,i.e how to successfully save and open JPEG files on windows 10 system .

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”

Please follow below mentioned methods to fix the issue:



Method 1:



I would suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow the below given steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X, select
  Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.
  
• 
  In Command prompt type
  sfc/scannow and press enter.
  
• 
  Restart the computer.
  
  If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:
  

• 
  Open command prompt by pressing
  Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
  
• 
  In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
  
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
  
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  

Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

Method 2:

I would suggest you to
create a new user account and check if that helps.

Windows 10 Office 365 cannot open files from: recent file list


Thanks for the tip! I followed all above steps.

So far I can open files from the Recent files list when I enter Word itself, however I still am unable to open any documents using the Word icon pinned to the taskbar:
