Windows 10: Unable to open Photos after recent windows 10 update

My photos app seems to not be working. I get this error File System Error -2147219195. The app does not show up under settings, but when I search for it, it shows up. It does show up when I click the window on the bottom left, but when I select it is when the error pops up. I also searched for it under programs as I was going to uninstall, but can't find it there either. When I click my JPEG or PNG files I get a pop up saying I need a new application to open the MS Paint file. I have paint. It works fine. I don't use paint to view my pictures. I prefer the photo app. It was working great before the update. Any ideas on how I can solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 10 Office 365 cannot open files from: recent file list

So far I can open files from the Recent files list when I enter Word itself, however I still am unable to open any documents using the Word icon pinned to the taskbar:

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

Hello,

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.
