Windows 10: Unable to open up any Windows Settings. Crashes immediately upon opening.

I am not sure when it start but I am unable to open up Windows Settings or anything related to Windows Settings i.e services or notification settings, etc. When I initially try to open it after a fresh boot, it gives an error that says "The instruction at 0x00007FF87A8A4F34 referenced memory at 0x00000291D74EE618. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc0000242. Click on OK to terminate the program"I have tried an sfc /scannow, but it says Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service. I tried running it in safe mode but it says the

Unable to open settings app to view settings as it crashes

I am unable to open the settings app to view it and access it. It immediately crashes. This started only recently.

 

Unable to open Settings and Magnifier.

Did you made any changes to the system prior to the issue?

What exactly are you referring to ''the title appears on the bottom bar but will not open''?



Did you check for any pending updates? If not, follow the below steps to update the Windows.

• 
  Press Windows key+ I to open the
  Settings.
  
• 
  Click on Update & security, then click on
  Windows Update.
  
• 
  Select Check for updates. If Windows Update says that your PC is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available.
  

This issue may occur due to corrupt or missing Windows files.

You can also go to the Settings by pressing the windows
key+ R. You may try to open the Settings with this shortcut and see if the options can be seen.



If the above suggestions doesn’t help, you may run the
system maintenance troubleshooter and check if the issue still persist.

Follow the below steps to run the system maintenance troubleshooter.

• 
  Type troubleshooter in the search box on the task bar and then press
  Enter.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting from the list.
  
• 
  Click on view all in the left pan and select
  System maintenance troubleshooter.
  
• 
  Click next and follow the on-screen instructions.

QuickBooks crash while opening data file

As you have mentioned that after Windows and QuickBooks update whenever you open a data file in QuickBooks, it crashes. We would like to know if any other programs are crashing apart from QuickBooks.



I suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned below:



Method 1: Repair QuickBooks



I suggest you to try repairing QuickBooks and then open data file in it. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type appwiz.cpl and click on
   OK.
   
3. Look for QuickBooks application from the list, right click on it and select
   Repair.
   
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair process.
   

If repairing QuickBooks didn’t fix the issue, please refer Method 2.



Method 2: Open Sample data file



You can try opening a Sample data file in QuickBooks and check if QuickBooks crash. If QuickBooks didn’t crash while opening Sample data file, I suspect that the data file that you are trying to open is causing the crash. In this case, I suggest you
to contact the
QuickBooks support team.
