Windows 10: Unable to pair / reconnect my Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID

I've had a "Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID" for about several months with Windows 10. The keyboard had been working fine. Recently, however, I noticed that the keyboard started losing connection to my PC and not restoring it until I rebooted. In the Bluetooth settings the keyboard is shown with 91% battery.


This disconnection happened several times, after which I decided to remove the device from the Bluetooth control panel and then add it back. I was able to remove it, but now it is permanently gone and I can't add it back.


The problem seems to be that the keyboard doesn't have a pairing button and instead relies on a USB connection event trigger pairing. No matter what I do I can't get my keyboard to re-pair. I have gone into the Device Manager and attempted to find the keyboard, but it's not listed even with "show hidden devices" checked.


I have rebooted several times. I reinstalled the drivers from the keyboard support site KeyboardwithFingerprintIDInstaller_64bit_ENG_1.0.162.exe. I have unplugged the keyboard, rebooted, uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, installed the drivers, plugged in the keyboard, turned the keyboard on. Nothing. It simply refuses to notice when I plug the keyboard back in. I have tried every support article on Microsoft.com about bluetooth and keyboards that I can find. Is there anything I can do to clean out the old driver and force Windows to pair again?

No, haven't tried it. Like @Bill_Bright says, keyboards are a very personal choice

 

Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID not charging

I've recently purchased the new Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID and it pairs with my surface properfectly fine but as soon as I disconnect the microsUSB cable to use it wirelessly the keyboard switches off and cant connect to it. Anyone having
similar issues?

Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID Bluetooth Problem

Hello,

I bought a microsoft modern keyboard with fingerprint id few days ago, but it cannot build a bluetooth connection with my computers. I also own a Surface mouse, and it works properly, so I am quite sure that my computers have no problem.

I tried all the trouble shooting steps on the help page (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...eshooting-modern-keyboard-with-fingerprint-id), but the problem persists.

Can anyone help me?
