    My company adopts Mcafee Drive Encryption MDE 7.2.x to protect those portable PCs running Windows 10 Enterprise x64. Most of our Win 10 are at 1803 and 1809 but recently we found that we are unable to perform feature update to 1909 no matter through SCCM deploy or via manual set up. An error showing unable to update the system reserved partition even we found there are plenty of storage free space.


    May I know anyone have similar experience and how to tackle it?

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator management system and McAfee’s endpoint encryption client will integrate with Seagate Momentus FDE hard drives to use the embedded hardware encryption, giving customers full, user-rich features and the total enterprise management required to secure notebook computers in heterogeneous environments.

    Through McAfee ePO, organizations worldwide can leverage Seagate Momentus FDE hard drives in heterogeneous environments to secure notebook information. IT security personnel can enforce policy management globally, enable token authentication and end-user password recovery, and aid organizations to prove that a missing notebook was encrypted at the time it was lost or stolen – a requirement for compliance with many data-privacy laws.

    Seagate Delivers Strong, Simple-to-Use Notebook Security for Consumers and Organizations
    Seagate Secure hard drives are simple and easy for consumers and organizations to use. Individual computer users who are not subject to corporate policies and regulatory compliance, don’t need multi-user encryption management and want to protect personal and other sensitive information can easily deploy a notebook with a Momentus FDE hard drive, which installs as easily as a traditional drive.     I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps to disable BitLocker.

    To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.


    • Press Windows key + X and click on
      Control Panel.

    • Change View by from Category
      to Large Icons/Small Icons.

    • Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
      Turn BitLocker Off.

    • Follow on screen instructions. Click on Decrypt the Drive
      when the message appears.

    Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

    Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

    Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.
