  3. Generic / Text only Driver

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your response. I have an Epson LQ-2090II printer and driver connected on my machine.

However, the software i am printing from requires the generic / text only driver.

When i install and try to use the Generic / Text only driver i am unable to print.

FYI, I printed fine before upgrading to windows 10

Unable to print using Generic Text driver after KB5039212 update on Windows 10

no printinf via generic text driver after security update windows 10

Hi, How are you? I am Alan, Microsoft Expert, an Independent Advisor. I will be happy to assist you today. I appreciate your contact!

Let's try to resolve the printing via generic text driver issue after security update KB5039211 in Windows 10. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

    1.Check Printer Settings:

Ensure that the printer settings were not changed after the update.

Verify that the printer is correctly selected as "Generic/Text Only" in the Device Manager.

    2.Reinstall Printer Driver:

Press Win + X and select "Device Manager".

Find the printer in the list, right-click it, and select "Uninstall device".

Disconnect the printer and restart the computer.

Reconnect the printer and let Windows reinstall the driver automatically.

    3.Check Print Spooler Settings:

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Find "Print Spooler" in the list of services.

Ensure that the service is running and set to "Automatic".

If necessary, restart the service by right-clicking and selecting "Restart".

    4.Check Port Settings:

Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.

Select your printer and click "Manage".

Click "Printer properties" and go to the "Ports" tab.

Verify that the correct port is selected for the printer.

    5.Run the Printer Troubleshooter:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.

Select "Printer" and run the troubleshooter to detect and fix issues automatically.

    6.Rollback the Update:

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider rolling back the security update as a temporary solution until Microsoft releases a patch.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Click "View update history" and then "Uninstall updates".

Find the KB5039211 update in the list and uninstall it.

These steps should help resolve the printing issue via the generic text driver after the security update on Windows 10. I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.

    Best,

    Alan
