Windows 10: Unable to Recover PC after 20H2 Update Failed

Hello,

I have been trying to get my work PC's updated to 20H2.

I have manged to get one PC going after much frustration.

Now I am trying to update other PC.


Computer requested restart to install 20H2.
Restart gives completely black screen no cursor. Waited one hour, hard drive is working but no boot.

I have tried booting recovery drive from USB, still black screen
I have tried windows installation from USB, still black screen

I have tried powering on/off to enter Windows Recovery, still black screen.


The monitor is fine, I can boot Unbuntu from USB no problems.


How can I get Windows Recovery to run?

Hi team...my most recent version is windows 10 20H2 , despite that the office 2010 32 bit updates are failing with the error code 0x80070643....i checked several times and updated office 2019 on my PC.

unable to find a solution, and it seems that if eventually that will fail....ultimately operating system clean install option will be the last remaining option, which I do not want to do.....

kindly suggest what to do?

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

cannot update 20H2 build 19042.662 for last 2 months

There are multiple steps that can be performed to troubleshoot failed upgrades.
An in place upgrade repair if it fails should generate an error message and code that is useful to start the troubleshooting.
So for a failure start an new thread with the error message and code and logs can be collected.
