    I was trying to clone Windows really the whole C drive from the C drive 128 GB M.2 to the D drive 2 TB SSD. I ruined windows in the process that asks me for the boot disk.I have a 32 GB thumb stick that I used to boot windows onto the PC the first time a few months ago. When I go to recover PC, it gives me the error message in the title.I can get to command prompt and I’ve tried looking at the drives and re-formatting them. Oddly it shows the thumb stick having 0GB free, but my other drives have all GB’s free after I reset them in my motherboard’s bios.

    So a few days ago I turned on my PC and it said that the file \WINDOWS\system32\config\system was missing, so I tried recoering my pc via recovery drive. It said wait for a bit and then changed to a screen with the words, “Unable to recover your PC. The
    system drive is too small.” I have formatted it to FAT32 and I set the usb boot first. At the moment I don’t know what to do which is why I am going here for help.

    After installing Windows 10 last week, I created a system image using the built-in backup software.

    The system OS SSD is 120GB.

    Over the weekend I restored my system back to Windows 7 using a prior image so I could transfer a software license for a program I needed.

    Same SSD with Win7 and Win10 - now when trying to restore my Windows 10 image, I receive the error that my system drive is too small. This doesn't really make any sense to me - I've never had this issue with Windows 7.

    I don't mind doing a full Win10 install again if I have to, but I'd rather not as I had it all setup how I want.

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
