Windows 10: Unable to reformat Windows 10 period.

Hi all,

I'm really at my wit's end here trying to get my PC up and running. Originally I had an Intel 4th gen set up going with DDR3 memory on an LGA 1150 motherboard. I wanted to do an upgrade but after my research I concluded AMD was the better choice so I swapped out the RAM (DDR4), Motherboard (AM4), and CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 2600). I started running into BSOD issues pretty much out of the gate.

I knew I needed to reformat but I didn't know it was going to be my worst nightmare.

Neither built in reformatting/reset option works. I do the reset and it goes to about 24% before it states that the reformat couldn't be done, all changes were undone, and the PC could not be reset. I suspect this may have to do with an encrypted file on my PC (which I have no idea what it is) because this prevented me from doing a system restore a few months back.

I created boot media, went into the UEFI BIOS to override start off the boot media and I ran into the same issue saying that my PC needs to be repaired, it gives me an error code, and says I need to use boot media even though I'm already using boot media. If I press Enter to run it again I get another error code. If I press F8 I get another error code.

What am I missing here... how do I reformat this freaking thing???

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Recover or Reformat?

The reformat won't budge?

I did what you said and then was told to remove the CD from the CD-Rom Drive, put in the recovery CD and then press the 'OK' button to continue

So I changed to the next disk but the OK doesn't appear to be being 'pressed'. Yes I have pushed enter on the keyboard which is what I have been using to get me through the other steps..

Any suggestions?
