    Unable to reinstall MS Flight Simulator after it began failing to launch.


    Recently my previously installed and fully functional copy of MS Flight Sim 2020 began failing to launch, after trying a number fixes which all failed to solve the issue I decided to try and reinstall the simulator. Upon attempting a re-installation the download repeatedly failed, providing the following code: 0x80070424 and no further information.Further investigation into the code revealed it is related to a windows update problem, but I confirmed that my machine was fully updated and tried again only for the issue to repeat. Short of rolling back windows updates, or doing a reinstall of the

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.



    I suggest you to completely uninstall Microsoft Flight Simulator and check.

    Refer the steps below to uninstall.

    • Press “Windows key + X”, select Control panel.
    • Open programs and features.
    • In the list of installed programs, select Microsoft Flight Simulator, and then click
      Remove.


    Note: If you have earlier versions of Flight Simulator in the list of installed programs, you will have to remove them in addition to Flight Simulator.



    Reinstall the Flight Simulator.



    Please reply to us if the issue still persist.

    Command to start MS Flight Simulator 2020

    What's the command to start MS Flight Simulator 2020? I have the DVD version and want to write a batch file to mount an ISO file as a viryual DVD drive containing the key files instead of having Disk 1 in the DVD drive then launch Flight Simulator.
