Windows 10: Unable to reinstall win 10 on Asus T100TAF from usb after in-windows repair and sfc unable...

Here's my sad Journey with windows 10 on Asus T100TAFobjective: do a clean install of win 10 on the Asus T100TAF as the computer/tablet was donated to a school with very limited budget for IT related stuff.Here's what I've tried and where I've gotten stuck1. getting win 10 on USB to boot from it and install: I got rufus and I got win10 on known-working usb, when I attempted to boot, I'm getting a error that says that I have not enough space in ramdisk which is related with error: 0xc0000017. when looked up the error the most common fix was to use this command: bcdedit /deletevalue {badmemory}

Windows 10 USB boot

Hi there, am not a windows 10 expert. I have a pc in the bedroom on windows 10, I messed up the bootloader trying to fix the xp on that system.

System wont boot, trying to repair via win 10 usb installer.

Downloaded the media creation tool to install windows 10 installer on usb stick. Not compatible with a host of usb sticks I have. Tried the usb sticks that others use, but I think they use rufus; as the media creation tool by win 10 does not detect the usb stick.

So quick question, the win10 machine i am trying to repair the bootloader is a win7 upgraded to win10.
If i were to use the usb win10 installer to "repair installation" does the version of the iso downloaded via the media creation tool matter?

There is three options:
Windows 10
Windows 10 Home
Windows 10 N

Also is there a step by step instead of using rufus as I want to try an alternative method of creating a usb win 10 installer. Preferably with more compatibility.

System is a asus sabertooth 990 (r2?) with AMD phenom X 6.

Also is there any other software I can load onto the usb that can repair the bootloader easily?

Hello! Sorry for the delayed response... I would recommend you start a new thread dedicated to your issue, but while we're here I'm glad to try and help.

Manually restarting VSS writers may help but only temporarily...if after a system reboot the issues have still been occurring then manually restarting VSS writers will not fix anything as they get reset when the OS restarts. Manually restarting them is how I get around rebooting servers when a backup or shadow copy issue occurs.

Did you read the Windows 7 in-place upgrade section of this thread? If not, I suggest you read through that and try it. It is different from the Windows Repair Disc option, and if you can get to the desktop it is absolutely worth a shot. The in-place upgrade will replace OS files while keeping your profile, data and programs intact.

Another option is to read the SFC section in the OP, the link to Microsoft's SFC page also has a section on how to repair/restore files that fail, so you said that SFC /Scannow displayed a few errors that could not be fixed...did you read the log to find out what could not be fixed? I bet they could be repaired with more specific commands. SFC /Scannow is a very generalized command, and while it can fix a lot of things, there's also a lot it cannot.

Again, I would suggest you start a thread dedicated to your issue, especially if my suggestions fail to help. Lastly, you start your post with stating you'll probably format the HDD and reinstall Windows, depending on the data on the Dell laptop that might be the quick and easy solution, especially with Solaris17's Win7 update batch file (or manually if you like it that way). But if you're willing to reinstall, I would challenge you to trying an in-place upgrade first to see if that fixes it. Seeing it takes about the same amount of time as a fresh OS install and you don't have to re-install drivers, programs, etc. At least in the cases I've used the repair on.

dear all,
my laptop asus x409ua 64 bit, which came with preinstalled with windows 10 (with key) faced black screen and some errors (possibly virus attack as folders disappeared). , I was using windows 10 original and office 2019 home original with auto updates,
and none of the automatic repair or system restore efforts worked.
institutional service person where in work, installed windows pro, but it created issues as well, like unable to install chrome, firefox crashing, adobe acrobat reader installed - but didnt work.

i prefered to install windows 10 again and started downloading tool from microsoft site. But, it didnt work.
now windows start button is not working and i get asus software manager agent.exe - system warning as unknown hard error.

what should i do ?
how can i install windows 10 with my key ?
i cant go for windows 11 as my system is not compatible for it.

im not a techie, hence a detailed step by step guidance will be very helpful.
