Unable to remove Snipping Tool default use of PrintsSreen key on Windows 11

Hello, I just got a new laptop with pre-installed Windows 11. I want to use a third party app to make screenshots instead of the default Snipping Tool. I uninstalled the Snipping Tool and edited the register to disable it following this tutorial: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/disable-snipping-tool-in-windows-10, but even after all of this, pressing the PrintScreen key still opens a Snipping Tool window. I can't get rid of it. This is what I see when I press the PrintScreen key: https://ibb.co/8mvMTXV If Snipping Tool is gone, what even is this window I am seeing?Isn't there any way to

    :)

  2. snipping tool

    Please try this:

    Step 1:

Click Start, and type Snipping Tool.

Right-click Snipping Tool from the search results, and click App Settings

    Click Reset,

    Click Repair.

Note: In Windows 11, there is no Snip and Sketch. It comes pre-installed with the new Snipping Tool (which replaces the old Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch apps)

    Step 2:

Turn off Focus assist if it's enabled

    Step 3:

Open Services.msc and make sure that the following services are set to "Automatic" and running:

    • Windows Push Notifications System Service
    • Windows Push Notifications User Service

  3. Unable to mail the snipped clip from Snipping tool option on Windows 10.

    Hello Jensheahan,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will assist you in resolving the issue.

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

    • Which mail application are you using on the computer?
    • Which is the default mail application set on the computer?
    • Is any mail client installed on the computer other than Mail app?

You will be able to select the mail application to send using Snipping tool by setting a default mail application on the computer.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if you are able to mail the snipped clip.

    • Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type Windows Live Mail and select the top most search result.
    • From the dialog box select the application to set as default and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • Open snipping tool, snip a clip and check if you are able to mail the clip using
      Windows Live Mail.

Write to us with the answers to the above questions and the status of the issue on the same post for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

    Thank you.

Unable to remove Snipping Tool default use of PrintsSreen key on Windows 11

Snipping Tool will not work (Windows 11)

    Hi.
When I attempt to use the snipping tool (Windows key + Shift + S), nothing happens.
I have checked the internet for suggested solutions (of which there are about 11) and applied most of them; the only thing I didn't try was to revert to a previous Windows version but I'm not going to do that. This problem began following the recent Windows 11 update to Version 21H2.

    I am using:
    Windows 11 Home
    Version 21H2
    OS Build 22000, 1098

    No updates are pending.

The snipping tool is a critical tool so it's broken functionality causes significant problems. So far, I have not found any snipping app that usefully replace the snipping tool.

I'd be grateful for a solution.

(PS, I have no idea which "Product" Option is the correct choice to direct this post to the correct Microsoft Community!!! "Internet Explorer" seems the least ridiculous response but I have Version 11 on Windows 11 and the Windows Version list does not offer a windows 11 option. Why is this so difficult? This problem presumably has nothing to do with Microsoft Edge, the "Product" I selected where asked below, as it is not in use though it is installed.)
