  1. Unable to Remove TPM-Only from BitLocker on Windows 11

    Issue: Unable to Remove TPM-Only from BitLocker on Windows 11 System Details: OS: Windows 11 Pro Version 10.0.26100 BitLocker Version: 2.0 Encryption Method: XTS-AES 128 Boot Drive C: Encryption Status: Fully Encrypted Problem Description: I enabled BitLocker with TPM + PIN, but Windows still enforces TPM-only. I want to remove TPM-only while keeping TPM + PIN for pre-boot authentication. When I run: powershell manage-bde -protectors -delete C: -Type TPM Error: "An error occurred while deleting the key protector. Group Policy settings require the use of TPM-only at startup. Please

  2. TPM vs Bitlocker. This device cannot use TPM. Is my TPM or isn't compatible with Windows 10/11 ?

    A few details up front, my Windows 10 is able to inform me about TPM status:

    -TPM Present: True

    -TPM Version: 2.0

    -TPM Manufacturer ID: INTC

    -TPM Manufacturer Full Name: Intel

    TpmPresent : True

    TpmReady : True

    TpmEnabled : True

    TpmActivated : True

    TpmOwned : True

    IsActivated_InitialValue=TRUE

    IsEnabled_InitialValue=TRUE

    IsOwned_InitialValue=TRUE

    ManufacturerId=1229870147

    ManufacturerIdTxt=INTC

    It seems that TPM module is ready to use by Windows/BitLocker.

    However, when I try to encrypt the Windows drive using BitLocker the message like this is displayed:

    'This device cannot use a Trusted Platform Module. "Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM" option in the "Require additional authentication at start-up" policy for OS volumes.'

    Does it mean that my active INTC Intel TPM is incompatible and cannot be used with Bitlocker ?

    Why does "PC Health Check" inform the TPM 2.0 is enabled and suggests that this TPM 2.0 is compatible with Windows 11 ?

    Bitlocker in Windows 10 without TPM

    As others here, I have my Win8.1 C: drive encrypted without a TPM and with a password. I am still unsure whether to upgrade to Win10. Your posts:

    • Told how to enable Bitlocker on Windows 10
    • Seemed limited to the BETA version of Windows 10
    QUESTIONS:

    • Can I simply upgrade to Win10 without decrypting my C: drive AND still use the same password on Bitlocker?
    • Can you confirm that Bitlocker WILL NOT revert to the default Bitlocker settings during the upgrade?
    • Will everything work as in your post on the production Win10 upgrade as on the trial versions?
    Having to worry about losing a thumbdrive makes me quite uneasy--especially on the road. In the event of theft, the thumbdrive would likely be with the laptop; thus, obviating the reason for using Bitlocker in the first place.

    The following points have given me concerns about upgrading to Win10:

    From the Win10 Specifications Page:

    •BitLocker To Go requires a USB flash drive (Windows 10 Pro only).

    •BitLocker requires either Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2, TPM 2.0 or a

    USB flash drive (Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise only).

    Did the post "kennethrallen replied on August 1, 2015S, See post history" relate to a removable drive; did Win10 incorrectly interpret the drive as removable because it was encrypted; or was the problem apparently something else?

    Thanks

    DJ
