Windows 10: Unable to rename photo after opening in Photos, after recent update

Windows 10 Version 21H1Although I know that you can rename photo files within Explorer, sometimes I prefer to open the photo and rename it whilst the photo is open using an option top right of the screen to view file name from memory! and I can rename the detail and save - this is not the same as the "save as"This has been completely fine... until after the most recent Window update and now the layout of the photo editing options when the photo is open has completely changed and the option to rename the photo has disappeared, which is so annoying! Can anyone tell me if it is still possible

I suggest you to follow the steps and screen shot and check if you are able to find the option to Rename the files:

• Open the Photo App.
• Click on photo.

Next, Right click on the photo and select the option Open folder.



Once file explorer open, Right click on the photo and select the option Rename.



Now try to rename the photo and check if you are able to do it. Let us know if you unable to find these options.

renaming photos imported into windows 10

  Are you trying to rename the photos through file explorer?

  Do you receive any error message when you try to rename the photos?
  

If you are trying to rename the photos before being imported to Windows 10, please be informed that you will have to first import the photos and then rename it later. I would suggest you to try renaming the photos through file explorer by following
the steps below and check if fit helps.

1. Press Windows key + E to open file explorer.

2. Click “this pc” on the left pane.

3. Open the folder/drive where the photos are located.

4. Right click on the photo which you would like to rename and select ‘rename”.
