If you look at the end of the file, SFC says the source of the file is corrupted what can only be fixed with DISM restorehealth command

Unable to repair Windows10 using SFC/DISM or in-place upgrade

    - -
Wow - I am definitely having a problem with "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" in my Win 10 Pro 64-bit. No matter what I do, I get
The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.
The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log
I've done sfc / scannow a whole bunch of times.

I also tried BOTH suggestions of David Bailey at http://www.eightforums.com/performan...g-restore.html .

I have NOT yet tried to "mount" an iso of Win 10 and ask dism to point to it. Before I do this per the good advice above, I just want to confirm a few things.

    Anything else?

    Thanks,

I gave my reply to dippas, the origina thread starter. It proves to have worked. He said that on Post #28.
Go back to page 1 and read my reply, Post #10.
Any part of my post you don't understand or clear, post back and I'll elaborate further.

davidhk - you are correct. Apologies for not checking better. Doing the tech download now - shall advise.

davidhk - dism completed succesfully and i am now running sfc /scannow. Assuming that completes successfully, how then do I UNmount the iso?
    Many thanks!

Go to File Explorer > click This PC > on the right side, you should see the drive on which the iso is mounted > right click at it click Eject.

davidhk - sfc /scannow comes out 100% good on second run. Sorry to be boring, but ...

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I'm having the exact issues as described above.
    CBS.zip
I've read through all the posts, but my question and concern lies with matching the version of windows I have with the correct ISO file. If I go to start/settings/system/about it says OS Build 10586.63

but when I ran sfc and dism commands, both which didn't work, the CMD says I have 10586.0

.................I've read through all the posts................

You obviously did not read my post #10.

To save you from leafing through the pages, follow this one which I have edited a few days ago..............................

Your dism .......> restorehealth said " source files could not be found" because your ISO has the Install.esd.

You need the Install.wim which can be obtained by downloading the ISO from Tech Bench.

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/techbench

Once you have the iso downloaded, right click at the ISO > click Mount > and leave it there.

Then open the elevated command prompt and copy and paste this................

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:H:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

Note : H is the drive where the iso is mounted. Change it if your driver letter is different.

When it is completed, you should get the report that the operation is successful.
Now run the sfc /scannow again. It should be ok this time.
