Great idea ... except that the link no longer works. Microsoft tells me "We are sorry, the requested page cannot be found". Yeah, I am sure they are truly sorry. Anyways, the solution that gets advertised here no longer works. Any smart ideas out there, perhaps?

Incidentally: I find this whole matter amazing. I mean, you are supposed to go into the cmd-window, run as admin, type in a bunch of commands that are cryptic, to be told that "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them" (for sfc /scannow ) or "The source files could not be found. Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required ..." (for dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth ).. Why do normal users like me even have to go there in the first place?! And then why are normal users like me left standing puzzled in the forest, trying to search the www for answers? Then getting to this forum, with multiple links pointing to it, which offers no correct solution either? Why isn't there some simple app from Microsoft, that ordinary citizens like me can download, that does all the fixing for you that needs to be done? Truly, I am stuck here. I have this problem on two machines (after upgrading to Windows 10), I see many others have the problem too, so this isn't an arcane issue for the supergeeks out there. Ah, cue the Apple-aficionados ... no, I want to use Windows 10, and this should be simple, not a headache.

Tech Bench no longer works. There is a new link. That post you showed is old.
If your version of Windows 10 is VERSION 1607 then the new link will have the correct install.wim file.
If your version is the older version of 1511, then this ISO will not help you, unless you use it to upgrade to version 1607.
Below is the link, use option 1. To find out which version you have, open a command prompt ADMIN and type: Winver

  3. Oh boy. That points to a website that all kind of stuff about using a Media Creation Tool, installing Windows 10 and what not. This seems to be a never-ending rabbit hole! Isn't that website simply saying: go to

    Windows 10 ISO

and there, download the Windows 10 version for your machine. You can then use that as "source" for DSIM.exe . So ... once I downloaded the .iso file, can I just use that as source, is that it?

... and actually, I just found out per "winver", that my version is the version 1511 . Now what?

When you went to that link I gave you, I told you to use option 1 <----- Not any other option. Since you have not upgraded your Windows 10 to the Anniversary Update (1607) then you download the ISO from using the OPTION ONE and mount that iso on your C: Drive, then run setup.exe. That will upgrade you to the latest version of Windows 10.
Before doing this it would be a real good idea to make a complete image backup of your existing Windows, that you have now.
Using a program like Macrium Reflect. Which is a free program.

He guys new here so bear with me.
I have the same issue you were discussing so I tried the posted info.
Took me a few minutes to find out what an elevated command was, and how to mount a file, but I think I am there now.

I did down load an ISO that has the install.wim
I located the downloaded ISO file, right clicked, and mounted the ISO file.
In my case it indicates a new drive H:
I opened task manager\ file \ run new task, and pasted in the
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:H:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess
checked off Create this task with admin privileges, and clicked OK

The moment I click ok the Admin Command Prompt window opens, then quickly closes just as fast.
I see the DISM tool info version 10.0.14393, and a couple of line below image version number 10.0.14393, then the screen closes.
It took running the new task quite a few times to finally see what was flasing on the screen before it closed.
    There is no error message.

I have the Win 10 PRO with the Anniversary update installed.

    Am I missing something ?

    Thanks for any help

P.S. This is my last resort before I install a fresh copy of Windows 10 to get rid of corrupt files.
