Unable to revert from Windows Insider Preview Program

I was attempting to downgrade from the Windows 10 Insider Preview but I got this error when I attempted to use the "Recover" option in the Settings menu.

"The files we need to take you back to a previous version of windows were removed from this pc windows insider preview".

I also tried to use the Windows Media Creation tool via a portable USB but when setup was running it said something along the lines of "You have a version of Windows that is past the version which you are attempting to upgrade". I'm assuming thats because the Windows 10 Insider Preview is technically past the regular windows 10 build.

How can I downgrade back to Windows 10 and exit the insider program? I've already paused the build updates in the settings menu. I want to downgrade because of problems with screen brightness - it's refusing to change regardless of which drivers I install. I'm using a Dell XPS L322X laptop with the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 display adapter.

    All help is appreciated.

    :)
