Unable to select 144Hz refresh rate on new monitor

I just got my new 1440p 144Hz monitor and I connect it to my laptop thru HDMI using the cable supplied with the monitor. I was able to select 1440p resolution but couldn't not select the 144Hz option. I am on Windows 11 21H2 Build 22000.282.The same cable I used on another laptop, windows 10, i was able to select 144Hz perfectly. The internal display is set to use iGPU while the external display is set to use dedicated GPU automatically. Also i tried to set it to use the dedicated GPU instead of the iGPU thru nVidia control panel, it wont happen too, as seen in the screenshot, it is still using

  2. Monitor refresh rate

    Hi Maypher

My name is Dayarys I am an independent advisor I will try to help you. Please follow the steps below :

Click on the Windows logo corner and Open Settings (gear icon).

    Click on System.

    Click on Display.

Click the Advanced display settings link.

Click the Display adapter properties for Display 1

    Click the Monitor tab.

Under "Monitor Settings," use the drop-down menu to select the refresh rate you wish.

If you already did that like you showing, keep in mind that the refresh rates you can select will always depend on the monitor, graphics adapter, and resolution your device is using.

Your monitor show the 144hz and 60hz option but doest mean that it works at an intermediate rate.

You can try to update your graphic card by your laptop manufacturer model or change your resolution, but if you don't have the option no one configuration or software can change it. Sorry to give you bad news.

    Regards Dayarys

  4. Unable to select 144Hz refresh rate on new monitor

    144hz monitor

    Hi Anoosh,

Note: Depending on graphics card, these instructions may vary.

Please go to Display Settings and try the following:

    - Select the monitor from the list of displays

    - Scroll down and select 'Advanced display settings'

    - Select 'Display adapter proprties for Display #'

    - Select 'List All Modes'

    - Select desired resolution and refresh rate (1920 x 1080 @ 144hz)

If these options are not there, you may need to change them from your graphics card software (i.e NVIDIA Geforce Experience, or AMD Catalyst Control Center).

    Hope this helps,

    Nathan
