Windows 10: Unable to set a shortcut for a computer app

I go to Apps & features, right-click the app HP Smart. Nothing happens. Just sits there. The HP Site gave those instructions. I'm guessing we're on differnt versions of Windows. I have the latest version of Windows 10, re-install about a week ago. I searched my System Drive c:\ with an app called File Locator. It found lots of executables that contain HP/hp but none that incude "smart'. I suppose it could be named anything, perhaps HPfredd.exe?LOL.So, my hope is that someone here can help me with a generic setting for assigning a shortcut to any app that's listed in Apps & features.T

How to pin app shortcut to desk top?

Step 1: I suggest you to perform the below steps to add the apps on desktop.

• Click on the “Start button” and locate the App that you want to pin to Desktop.
• Right click on the “App” and click on “More options”.
• Then click on “Open File location” and right click on the app, click on “Send to” option.
• Then select “Desktop (Create shortcut)”.
• Go to “Desktop” and check whether the app is located or not.

Or Step 2: To add shortcuts to the desktop

• Press and hold or right-click the desktop, tap or click New, and then tap or click Shortcut.
• Enter the location of the item or tap or click Browse to find the item in File Explorer.

"Settings" shortcut no longer launches the application.

How do I add a shortcut to the Taskbar on Windows 10

As per the issue description you are unable to add a shortcut to the taskbar in Windows 10. You are right that there is no option to pin the shortcut to the taskbar. However, you should be able to drag and drop the shortcut to the taskbar. If you are unable
to do that try the steps provided below and see if it helps you to fix the issue.

• Open the network connection page by clicking on the shortcut.
• Once that page is open, you could see the same in the taskbar.
• Now, right click on the icon of network connection in the taskbar which is representing your shortcut.
• Select the option pin to the taskbar.
• Now the shortcut will be pinned to the taskbar.
