Windows 10: Unable to set program compatibility with windows 10

I'm trying to set program compatibility with windows 10. The property tab for doing this doesn't show up.I've checked the registry key. The AppCompat key is not there which means that the tab should be displayed.I've also checked the setting in the group policy editor. It is set to "Not Configured" which means that the tab should be displayed.I've checked multiple files for the tab, not that that should make a difference.Everything that I have found online indicates that I should see the tab.Anyone have any suggestions?

Some apps created earlier than Windows 10 might not run optimally or will not run at all due to possible compatibility issues. As a first troubleshooting step, i suggest running the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter and see if it helps. Here are the steps:

1. Enter the name of the game on the Windows search box.
2. Right click on the result and select Open file location.
3. Right click on the game and select Properties.
4. Under the Compatibility tab, click Run compatibility troubleshooter.
5. Follow the troubleshooter wizard and complete the process.

If you continue to experience the issue after the compatibility troubleshooter, try the suggested
compatibility settings based on this link. Just adjust one or more of the following
settings and select OK when you’re done.

I suggest you to stop the Program Compatibility Assistant service
and check if it helps.

This service provides support for program compatibility assistant. PCA monitors programs installed and run by the user and detects unknown compatibility problems. If this service is stopped PCA will not work properly.

Steps:

• Click Start, type
  Services.msc in the Start Search box.
• Scroll down the list of services, right-click
  Program Compatibility Assistant service and select
  Stop.

Refer the steps to install a program in compatibility mode:

a. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select
Properties

b. Select Compatibility Tab

c. Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list

d. Let the driver to install and then check the functionality.
