Windows 10: unable to set up new laptop pin option doesn't work so unable to go to windows to resolve I...

Purchased new HP laptop, following instructions for first time set up, pin option rejected the first several pins I selected. Now at screen says retry but system will not accept retry. Online answers about pin says to go to windows and settings. I cannot do that, do not even have windows set up. Thinking of returning laptop to store since it is 1 day old. But how do I know next with windows OS won't have same problem

Unable to set PIN for log-in

I have tried every suggestion I have found online, but nothing works. When I click to add a pin, nothing happens. This is a new Windows 10 laptop, and from day 1 of set-up, I was unable to set a PIN. I had Windows 10 on another laptop and was able to set
ta PIN with no problem. The more I use Windows 10, the more discouraged I become.
